When Transworld editor Annie Fast asked me to write a backcountry safety column focused on their young, high-risk demographic, I immediately took up the challenge. In eight columns, I worked to pass along the mountain knowledge I'd accumulated as an avalanche safety educator in a digestible, impactful way through powerful quotes, pro-rider interviews and straightforward, culturally on-point language.
