Skagit Fisheries
  • SWC Five Year Plan + Op-Ed

In the Pacific Northwest, we all believe in the survival of Salmon. So it was a pleasure to on the heels of our messaging work for the Skagit River System Cooperative to be invited to shape and craft the messaging for the Skagit Watershed Council. Yet the invite coincided with a viscous external attack on their very existence, making the work much more meaningful to respond to the existential threat to their work and their Salmon recovery organization.

Tackling both their five-year roadmap messaging, as well as crafting an op-ed for the local media, we dove deep into an intersection of fish politics and fisheries science, helping recraft their mission and vision statements through the long-view lens of multiple agency and stakeholder collaboration. While just a first step in the messaging and branding work for the org, our collaboration provided a framework that clarified both their purpose and their story. On the heels of that work, we developed an op-ed for the local media that reflected that ethic.
