Uplifted to: 360 of Unreal
The audible crack of glaciers calving, a mountainside of mica reflecting like a mirror, peaks towering to an unimaginable scale. Airy heart-pumping ascents on via ferrata routes, immediate heli access to subalpine wildflowers or the refresh of granite pillars towering over vast Canadian icefields. Remote, wilderness as far as the eye can see. This is summer at CMH—a place that shapes, inspires and transforms.
Uplifted to: Guided Adventure
In the mountains, it’s tough to underestimate the significance of a skilled guide. An empowering force that leads us upward, educates us constantly and keeps us safe with a deep reserve of experience, strength and wisdom, they unlock an experience many of us could not access on our own. Their skill, safety and strength frees CMH guests to go deeper, higher and farther than they would go alone. And, by sharing knowledge and perspective earned from decades at elevation, they also make the mountains come even more alive for us all.
Uplifted to: Wilderness Luxury
At CMH, we didn’t invent the idea of wilderness mountain hospitality—our founder imported it from the hut culture of the European Alps. Yet, during the last six decades, we’ve put a truly Canadian spin on the concept with distinctive lodge architecture, comfortably relaxing environments and family-style mountain hospitality.
Uplifted to: Alpine Access
CMH is rooted in the vast, remote ranges and sub-ranges of Western Canada’s Columbia Mountains, which are geographically distinct and centered between the central spine of the Canadian Rockies and the wetter climate of British Columbia’s Coast Range. In the summer high season of July and August, CMH operates three wilderness lodges located deep in the rugged glacial-clad range of the Cariboos, in striking distance of the storied granite spires of the Bugaboos and tucked away in the peaceful, poetic solitude of the greater Purcell Range.
Spotlight: Wilderness Creativity
Few places are as inspiring, both creatively and aesthetically, as the vast tracts of Canadian mountain wilderness of our CMH summer ranges. That’s why CMH is the ideal outdoor classroom for a select roster of creative workshops this summer.
Spotlight: Alpine Endorphins
One of the most memorable elements of the CMH summer experience is getting the heart pumping in magical alpine surroundings. Whether choosing high-aerobic activity such as a trail running session or picking between our signature alpine-style via ferrata routes or heli-accessed hikes through wildflower meadows to stunning glacial tarns, CMH summer is defined by getting active on higher ground. The beauty of CMH summer is using our lodges as an alpine base camp with the freedom to choose your fully guided active pursuit in our stunning ranges.
Spotlight: Wilderness Lodge Life
When we say our guests feel like family, it’s not a stretch. At CMH we are known for providing a consistency and excellency of guest service that is incredibly rare in such a remote wilderness mountain location. In the great tradition of mountain hospitality, our lodge managers take great pride in providing an environment focused on service and comfort that starts with knowing your name even if it’s your first stay with us.
Spotlight: The Bugaboos
The Bugaboos have been called one of the greatest alpine playgrounds in North America and are legendary with alpinists due to their monolithic granite spires that tower skyward from massive icefields. But the Bugs are not just for vertical climbs, their dramatic vistas and premium granite that rival Yosemite in scope and scale. It’s a lot to take in, but just standing among the giants in this protected reserve will fill you up with both awe and inspiration.
Spotlight: The Cariboos
When people conjure up visions of wild, northern ranges, it’s the Cariboos they see in their mind. Turquoise blue tarns, more than five hundred glaciers, remote mountain lakes, wild, canyon waterfalls, vast alpine meadows with seven thousand square kilometers of high mountain terrain to explore. Wild populations of iconic Canadian fauna—from bears to beavers—but a human population density that is officially sparse. It’s a range that is
truly a treasure of the Canadian wild.
Spotlight: The Purcells
Artistic inspiration and mindful reflection have long been intertwined with mountain wilderness and nowhere is that ethic more resonant than in our Bobbie Burns lodge,
which is nestled deep in the Purcell Range. The Purcells hold a special place in our heart
at CMH, since they inspire awe and creativity like few ranges on earth, which is why our classic lodge in the Purcells is named for the legendary Scottish poet. With mind blowing landscapes and peaceful isolation, it’s a location that inspires the mind and fuels
the soul like few other places on earth.
