    When NWAC—our regional avalanche center—reached out to Voicebox, it was with a request from executive director Scott Schell to bring engagement, excitement and compelling messaging to their spring fund drive in a challenging fundraising environment. Centered around the build and launch of their new, highly anticipated app, Voicebox strategist Adrienne Schofhauser and CD Dan Kostrzewski dug deep into discovery to frame their story, content and ask to the community. With that foundation, our shop built out a comprehensive campaign framework and messaging strategy with content themes, email headers, membership sub-campaign segmentation, calls to action and fundraising devices all linking back to a powerful storytelling narrative that asked the community to “Go Bigger to Build the App”.

    Executed internally by the core NWAC team, including program director Charlotte Guard and membership director Katy Wicks, the spring campaign exceeded all expectations, increasing total donations by 20% in a tough fundraising environment. But beyond just the financial backing, the campaign reinforced the powerful narrative of NWAC as an org powered by its community of backcountry skiers, splitboarders, climbers, sledders and snowshoers. With developer profiles, strong email story threads, app tech previews, merch-and-match components and even a throwback to the early days of internet avy forecasting, the campaign resonated deeply with the target audiences. The “Community Backed, Community Built” thematic rolled out over a a ten-day arc in web, social and email channels setting a new standard for NWAC campaigns.
